As a result of substantial price increases over the past few years, and gradually increasing expenditure, we had just decided to embark on the time consuming exercise of analysing our costs with a view to making savings wherever possible.
We were delighted when we were approached by IDP who offered to compare pricing on our behalf to the contract pricing that is available to Scottish Care members buying through IDP, saving us valuable time.
We were delighted to discover that we are projected to save in excess of £7000 over the course of the next year for our dry and frozen food purchases. This is a fantastic saving which will benefit both the residents and staff of Morar Lodge. We have recently changed over to two of IDPs approved suppliers to benefit from these specially negotiated prices and hope to achieve even further cost reductions in the future.
In addition to the exceptional savings identified by IDP, we were also pleased that IDP confirmed that we were already receiving competitive pricing elsewhere and this provides us with peace of mind that IDP have our best interests in mind when recommending any changes within our supplier base.
We have found IDP to be very responsive to our needs and have every confidence that we can expect this level of service and commitment throughout our relationship. We appreciate the support and also their watchful eye on pricing and service being received from suppliers.
Only one regret is that we did not join IDP sooner.

Since taking advantage of the IDP Purchasing pricing we have reduced expenditure on our meat products, milk supplies and fruit and vegetables. Over the course of a year these savings will amount to several thousand pounds.
Campbell Prime Meats were our meat supplier, and we were delighted when we received further cost reductions as well as continuing to purchase from them. We decided to change supplier for our dairy products to Robert Wiseman Dairies as we could save a further £700 from our dairy bill. We have been delighted with both the excellent service and pricing we have received from Wiseman.
Originally fruit and vegetables were purchased locally as we felt it was important to support our local community. Unfortunately, due to their business closure we had to source an alternative supplier. After being recommended by IDP we changed to Forsyths Produce Direct and are again projected to make significant savings without affecting the quality or service that we were used to from previous suppliers.
We are now looking at other cost areas where the IDP negotiated discounts will lead to further cost savings. I have found IDP extremely helpful in identifying potential suppliers who can offer quality products at competitive prices.
Third Life Care
When I was first approached by IDP Purchasing I was just beginning to look at the prices our group was being charged by suppliers. I was advised that IDP would be able to reduce my expenditure in most areas, sometimes using the same supplier. I was told membership was free and there was no contract to sign. Furthermore, I could keep complete control of all my own purchasing they would just provide the lower prices.
IDP asked for three main areas in order to complete a price comparison, stating that if implemented that three areas would allow the process to be managed more effectively and the switchover would be seamless.
With Over £12,000 targeted savings from Brakes, compared to last year purchases, I was pleased that we had joined IDP.
I had asked IDP to look at one supplier for both my Dairy and Fruit and Vegetables for the group; they delivered more savings with a better service and product.
We are now looking at other areas where we can reduce our expenditure in partnership with IDP purchasing.
We are confident that if more members join IDP, the collective power of Scottish Care Members will help reduce costs further.
